You Can Download and Use Google Slides™ as Powerpoints

Are your students using Google Slides™ or Powerpoints? Did you know that if you have a resource in a Powerpoint format you might be able to use in Google Slides™and vice versa? Read on to find out how.

What Powerpoints and Google Slides™ are able to be used in both?

The following types of Powerpoint (.pptx) resources will likely work in Google Slides™ and vice versa:

➼ a Powerpoint/Google Slides™ with all pages in the background

➼ a Powerpoint/Google Slides™ without animations

➼ a Powerpoint/Google Slides™ with text boxes or tables to fill out

➼ a Powerpoint/Google Slides™ with drag and drop pieces

➼ a Powerpoint/Google Slides™ with linked slides

What likely won't work:

➼ a Powerpoint/Google Slides™ with animations

One thing you might find is a problem with the text depending on the font used. You would need the font available in Slides or Powerpoint for all editable text to work properly.

How to Download a Google Slides™ resource as a Powerpoint

Step 1: Open your Google Drive™ and find the resource.

Step 2: Open the resource.

Step 3: Click on File > Download > Powerpoint (.pptx)

Step 4: After it downloads you will find it on your computer ready to use in Powerpoint.

How to Upload a Powerpoint to Google Drive™

Step 1: Open your Google Drive™.

Step 2: Click on New > File Upload

Step 3: Choose the file from your computer and upload.

Step 4: After it uploads you will find it in your Google Drive™ ready to use in Google Slides™.

I cannot guarantee that the resource you are trying to use as the other version will work 100%. In my experience, I have been able to use most Powerpoint in Google Slides™ and vice versa without problems.
