No Name Papers

Since I've been teaching I have always had papers without names. It never fails. I go along grading papers and poof there it is - NO NAME! That is always the first direction I give once papers are passed out. I even pause to let them write their name before I give other directions.

THEN WHY DON'T THEY DO IT???

Over the years I have had different policies.

When I first started (Lower Elementary):
I'd give the paper back and had them put their name on their paper.

A few years down the road (Upper Elementary):
I took off 5 points and had them claim their paper.

A few more years down the road (Jr. High):
They knew they might get their paper thrown away and have to redo it.
Yes, many of them went in the trash.

And now (Jr. High):
I found this on Pinterest and decided to give it a try. This one is from Mrs. Williamson, a kindergarten teacher. If it works for Kindergarten, it should work for Jr. High. :)
I didn't get all fancy. I took my cup of labeled thin highlighters and plunked them down on top of the paper tray. Easy peasy!

NO MORE NAMELESS PAPERS FOR ME!

It's been 10 weeks and EVERY paper has had a name on it!! Makes me a happy teacher.

I love Pinterest! I've seen this idea on Pinterest many times but never implemented it. Now I'm asking myself WHY I didn't. I'm also wondering what other fabulous idea I have pinned on a board that I should try and try NOW. Go check your Pinterest boards and TRY something!

How do you handle no name papers?
